TERRE di BACCIO Farm Estate stands in a panoramic position on a hillside near the little town of Greve, in the heart of Chianti, an area that boasts a wealth of history, art and culture and is steeped in cultural and food and wine traditions. In the very centre of the 50 acre estate, planted with vineyards and olive groves, stands a recently renovated cluster of buildings, known as Casale di Baccio, which dates from the XVI century and has recently been converted into a country residence for guests.

The owners, of ancient Florentine and Guatemalan origin, have preserved the original architectural characteristics of the CASALE, combining stone, terracotta and old wooden beams with furnishings and handicrafts typical of central America. With the professional advice of one of Italyʼs leading oenologists, 13 acres of specialized vineyards were planted with Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot vines to produce excellent wines, aged in barriques in the farmʼs own historic cellar.

On arrival at the country residence Casale di Baccio, guests will be welcomed with simple and genuine hospitality and a “welcome” toast in the magical atmosphere of the sixteenth-century cellar. During their stay, guests may take advantage of the panoramic swimming pool and of the numerous sun-terraces scattered amidst the olive trees.

The Casale, situated right on the site of the old Roman road that connected Florence to Siena, is an ideal departure point for short walks along a path to the nearby town of Greve in Chianti, a centre of history and art, with a splendid piazza, numerous shops selling local handicrafts and food and wine, as well as wine bars, cafés and restaurants, with some of which we have special arrangements. The path is only a short walk to the town and is lit at night by energy-saving solar battery lighting.

Other possible excursions on foot include walks through the farm estate woodland, to the nearby and characteristic Borgo di Montefioralle hamlet and to the village of Panzano (also famous for its “historic” butcherʼs shop owned by Dario Cecchini, King of the Florentine Beefsteak!) Other destinations for more practised walkers are the village of Lamole, which stands at the foot of Mount San Michele and the peak of the same Mountain (at an altitude of over 800 metres), from which there is an extraordinary all-embracing panorama of the Chianti and Valdarno mountains, Mount Amiata and even the distant peaks of the Apuan mountains.
